Mars Rover: News for Kids!

Big News for Monday Morning!

I was up far too late last night eagerly sifting through the prolific Tweets of my friend, Amanda, a sixth grade teacher, who was fortunate enough to be at the NASA social for the Curiosity Mars rover landing at JPL in Pasadena.  As if being there for this historical moment wasn't good enough, she was able to connect with some truly amazing people...

My two children, Riley and Jacob, were quite curious and had many questions about space exploration and what was happening.  I shared the 7 Minutes of Terror video with them:

Followed by the"Call Me Maybe" Mashup:

Amanda even shared a set of Bingo cards you could use with your class:

  1. Hey Erin -

My husband works at JSC-NASA in Houston if you ever want to Skype chat with your class or your own kids. He's kind of a Mars expert.

Or come tour NASA when you're in town next summer.

Great post - thanks for all of the links!

  3. Love the resources! My mom's good friend's husband works for NASA. He was the flight director for the first shuttle mission after the Columbia disaster. Consequently, I was in school in East Texas and heard the boom when that happened. I didn't see any pieces but they weren't far from campus either. Interesting times. Anyways...I'll so be pinning this to remember when space things come up! Thanks!
